Frank Borzage Vol. 1+2 von BFI im November

Ein Blick zu unseren britischen Freunden lohnt manchmal, denn dort gibt es einige interessante Label, die hochwertige Klassiker-VÖs in Arbeit haben. So auch die DVD-Abteilung des BFI (British Film Institute), die am 02.November zwei (Mini-)Sets mit Filmen von Frank Borzage veröffentlichen wird. Besitzer des luxuriösen US-Sets von Fox wird dies weniger interessieren, waren die Titel doch dort auch schon enthalten aber für den Rest dürften die Boxen durchaus attraktiv sein.

Volume One brings together two lavishly produced landmarks of the silent period – 7th Heaven (1927) and Street Angel (1928).

The second volume contains two more classics from the period that saw Borzage transition from silent pictures into sound. They are Lucky Star (1929) and Liliom (1930).

Both volumes contain an illustrated booklet with essays and film notes. The films are presented in their original 1.20:1 aspect ratio with optional hard of hearing subtitles on volume 2.
