Es Westert schwer im August bei Warner...

Nachdem es in den vergangenen Wochen recht beschaulich zu ging im Hause in Bezug auf etwaige DVD klassischer Filme und die Fans in den USA schon anfingen, unruhig auf ihrem Hintern hin und her zu rutschen, hat das Studio nun vergangene Woche gleich drei staubige Releases angekündigt, die der freudige Kunde im August käuflich erwerben kann.

Zugpferd dieses Triumvirates wird die langersehnte Veröffentlichung von How The West Was Won, diesem epischen zweieinhalb Stunden Cinerama-Western. Ab dem 26. August zu haben:

M-G-M and Cinerama®, Inc. spared no expense to give this sprawling Western saga the huge vistas made possible with the original Cinerama® process. After its initial theatrical engagements in theaters equipped with three synchronized projectors for Cinerama® presentation, the film was subsequently presented on traditional theater screens with the three separate Cinerama® panels being optically joined to form a standard 35mm 2.35:1 widescreen image, leaving most subsequent viewers puzzled by the annoying ‘join lines.’

Following several years of careful development, the technicians at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging perfected a technology that could finally eliminate the ‘join lines,’ and unify the images into a superb viewing experience that captures the essence of the production’s initial road show exhibitions, with an aspect ratio of 2.89:1.

This ultimate western film gets the Ultimate treatment with How the West Was Won Ultimate Collector’s Edition ($59.92 SRP). The two disc Standard Definition Ultimate Collector’s Edition is loaded with collectible memorabilia including a 20-page theatrical press book reproduction, 10 behind-the-scenes photo cards and 10 postcards, and an exclusive movie poster offer. A Two Disc Special Edition ($20.97 SRP) will also be available, offering just the disc content.

Weiter geht es mit einem der großen Warner-Stars, dem Australier Errol Flynn, der nun sein drittes Boxset erhält, welches The Errol Flynn Westerns Collection heißt und ebenfalls ab dem 26.08 in de Läden stehen wird. Insgesamt befinden sich vier Filme in diesem Set, die ihr Debut auf dem Medium feiern.

Zu guter Letzt gibt es dann noch ein weiteres Western-Set, welches einige nicht so bekannte Filme enthalten wird aber für den geneigten Fan natürlich trotzdem eine sichere Bank darstellt. Wie sollte es anders sein, wird die Warner Home Video Western Classics Collection am gleichen Tag erhältlich sein, wie auch schon die beiden anderen beiden Veröffentlichungen. Folgende 6 Filme werden enthalten sein, die als Extras jedoch nur den Originaltrailer enthalten werden:

Des Weiteren darf man gespannt sein, welche Filme aus dieser Ära noch in diesem Jahr erscheinen werden. Angeblich sei man im Hause Warner schwer am Arbeiten und der geneigte Fan kann sich noch auf unzählige weitere Boxen in den kommenden Monaten und Jahren freuen. :)
