Teil 2 läuft noch gar nicht in den Kinos, da haben Paramount und DreamWorks schon einen geplanten Termin für den dritten Teil verlauten lassen. Juli 2011, genauer gesagt der 01.07.2011, soll es sein, wenngleich dies noch keine 100% offizielle Bestätigung ist, dass der Film auch umgesetzt wird. Eventuell will man noch das Einspiel des zweiten Teils abwarten. Nichtsdestotrotz gehe ich schon davon aus, dass wir einen Transformers 3 zu sehen bekommen. Paramount wollte auf Anfrage Varietys nichts bestätigen bzw. dementieren.

Paramount and DreamWorks are forging ahead with "Transformers 3," dating the movie for release on July 1, 2011.It's the first official word of the three-quel. Paramount insiders have said that the dating of the pic isn't an official announcement that the project is going forward; rather that the studio wanted to plan a stake in the date.
DreamWorks and Par weren't immediately available to confirm whether Michael Bay and stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are set to return for the third installment in the franchise, which has fast claimed the July 4th holiday as its own.
"Transformers" opened July 3, 2007; "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" bows on June 24, 2009.
So far, "Transformers 3" has no direct competition in its July 1, 2011 date.
Paramount also has moved up the release of Marvel Entertainment's "Thor" from June 16, 2011 to May 20, 2011.

Michael Bay selbst war von Paramounts Äußerung überrascht, will er sich doch ein kleines Transformers-Päuschen gönnen - der Ärmste - und hat deshalb auf seiner Homepage geschrieben:
Wait a minute! I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 - they asked me on the phone - I said yes to July 4 - but for 2012 - whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots.
Das mit dem Brain könnte seine Spötter auf den Plan rufen...
